God Listens to Everyone—Even Strippers

 by Jaz James

Life can be chaotic, and between long shifts, personal commitments, and everything else on your plate, finding time to pray might feel impossible. Maybe you’ve wondered how to even start or whether God would listen to someone like you. Here’s the good news: prayer isn’t complicated, and you don’t have to be perfect to connect with God. It’s as simple as talking to a good friend. God isn’t looking for fancy words or flawless faith—He just wants to hear from you, right where you are.

Prayer is about relationship, not rules. God wants to know what’s on your heart—your joys, struggles, questions, and everything in between. Think of it like texting your best friend. You don’t need a script or an agenda; you just share what’s on your mind. Whether you’re excited, frustrated, grateful, or feeling low, God is there, ready to listen. And the best part? You don’t need a specific time or place to pray. He’s with you in the middle of your everyday life, whether you’re at home, on your commute, or even at work.

Making Prayer Part of Your Day

You don’t need hours of free time to connect with God. Prayer can fit into your life, even with a busy or unconventional schedule. While driving to work or walking into the club, take a moment to talk to God about your day. During breaks or while you’re getting ready, offer up a quick prayer, even if it’s just a sentence or two. Before bed, thank Him for getting you through the day and ask for rest and peace. If mornings are better for you, simply invite God into your day with something like, “God, be with me today.”

If you’re not sure what to say, start with something simple. Begin with a greeting like “Hey God” or “Lord,” then share what’s on your mind. Be honest—God isn’t looking for perfection. Tell Him how you’re feeling, ask for what you need, and don’t forget to say thank you, even for something small. Wrap it up however feels natural, whether it’s with “Amen” or just “That’s all for now, God.” Prayer isn’t about the words; it’s about the connection.

God Is Always Listening

You don’t need a church, a Bible, or a perfect life to connect with God. He’s right there with you, wherever you are. Jeremiah 29:12-13 reminds us,

“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

No matter what you’re going through or where you are in life, God hears you and cares about you.

Prayer is a way to build a relationship with a God who loves you unconditionally. You don’t have to have it all figured out to start talking to Him. Whether it’s a quick, “God, help me out today,” or a deep cry from your heart, every word matters. He’s not waiting for you to get it right; He’s just waiting for you to reach out. So take that first step, however small it may feel, and know that God is listening. He always has been, and He always will be.
